Today, The Nurtured Village is a team of neuro-affirming, strengths-based, trauma-informed professionals; psychotherapists, play therapists, counsellors, developmental educators, all working together to walk alongside families, especially those in rural and regional communities where services can be hard to reach.
We offer therapy, parenting support, assessments, school training, group programs, and a growing online membership — all designed to bridge the gaps we’ve seen (and lived) in the mental health system.

About The Nurtured Village
At The Nurtured Village, we believe that every family deserves support, not just when things fall apart, but every step along the way.
Our practice was born from a simple, powerful truth: behaviour is communication, and both children and their caregivers need to feel safe, seen, and supported to truly thrive.
Before becoming a parent myself, I (Danielle) spent years working with children and young people labelled with “challenging behaviours.” What I saw over and over again were families doing the best they could in systems that didn’t understand them. The children had often experienced significant trauma or life disruptions and so had their parents.
We began shifting the focus from “what’s wrong with this behaviour?” to “what does this child need us to know?”
But strategies alone weren’t enough. Caregivers were overwhelmed. Burnt out. Carrying their own stories, often in isolation. That’s when it became clear: supporting the child meant supporting the whole village.
Our Mission.
To walk alongside children and their families with play-informed, neuroaffirming, and relationship-centred care — meeting them exactly where they are. We exist to bridge the gaps in mental health and developmental support, particularly for families in rural and regional communities, so no one feels left behind.
Our Vision.
At The Nurtured Village, our vision is to cultivate a world where every child feels safe, seen, and supported — exactly as they are.
A world where parents and caregivers feel held in their struggles, empowered in their choices, and connected to a village that truly gets it.
A world where therapeutic support is accessible, meaningful, and grounded in real relationship.
Neuroaffirming Practice
We honour and celebrate neurodivergence. We support children to be their full selves, not to mask, shrink, or conform. We believe behaviours are communication and that every child is doing the best they can with what they have.
Meeting Families Where They’re At
We walk beside families, not ahead of them. We support the whole system; child, parent, caregiver and adapt our work to suit each family’s unique rhythm, culture, and context.
Relationship is Everything
Connection is at the heart of healing. We prioritise safety, trust, and attunement in all our therapeutic work — because growth only happens in the context of a safe relationship.
Our Values.
Accessible, Local, and Real
We’re deeply committed to supporting rural and regional families, because distance should never be a barrier to quality care. Through a mix of in-person, outreach, and online services, we bring the village to you.
Whole-Child, Whole-Family
Children don’t exist in isolation — and neither should their support. Our care is systemic, strength-based, and grounded in the understanding that when parents and caregivers are supported, children thrive.
Lived Experience and Clinical Integrity
Our team is made up of therapists, developmental educators, and counsellors who bring both professional expertise and real-life experience. Many of us are neurodivergent, parents, or carers ourselves — we walk this path too.
